Gilliam, Milmine, Pottie (GMP)

GMP
GMP is an improvising trio with Bill Gilliam (piano), Kayla Milmine (sax) and Ambrose Pottie (drums) and Ambrose Pottie (drums) who met while playing with the Toronto Improvisors Orchestra (TIO). We have been performing our original music blending spontaneous invention and composition since 2015.
We played our first gig at Toronto’s Musideum in November 2015 and since then we recorded our album “Entangled Pathways” (2017) and performed a number festivals including the 2018 TD Toronto Jazz Festival at Heliconian Hall, the 2019 Something Else! Festival in Hamilton with special guest saxophonist Sam Newsome, the 2021 Something Else! Festival outdoors during Covid and the 2022 Ontario Place Summer Live Music Festival in Toronto as well as many shows at Array Space, Gallery 345, Tranzac, Burdock, Annette Studios in Toronto and Silence in Guelph.
Our album “Entangled Pathways” has been described as “a unique blend of free-floating melodies, jazz idioms, modal-chromatic tonalities, and spontaneous group improvisations.”
