new music & electro-acoustic compositions...

My music has evolved from many visceral encounters with musical works of art ranging from folk music, to jazz, free improvisation, electro-acoustics and contemporary classical composers such as Britten, Messiaen, Stravinsky, Ives, Bartok, Varèse, Lutoslawski, Crumb, Ligeti, Xenakis, Penderecki and many others.

Images of creativity sometimes come to me through observing nature or abstract art such as sculpture, which draws me in with three dimensional tactile surfaces, line and proportions of mass and textures waiting to investigated from many angles and be moved through time. I like to be guided by my natural curiosity to explore strange and bittersweet landscapes that continuously unfold with symbolic actors. Sometimes these scenarios are motivated by personal experiences or observations of human and political behaviour abstracted into compositional forces. Within the density and complexities I like to construct, I look for clarity and purpose that in the apparent chaos there can be some order.
